Arts and Crafts
We had lots of fun making Mothers Day cards. Year 1 would like to wish their mum’s a Happy Mothers Day!
Year 1 had fun making their Valentine’s cards. They enjoyed working on their fine motor skills by tearing up the little pieces of paper and sticking them to their cards.
Year 1 had great fun learning all about birthdays during their celebration topic. We prepared for a birthday party by making buns, writing invitations and making birthday cards throughout the week and then we had “Toby the Bear’s” party on Friday.
'All About 100' Day
Children were put into groups of 10. Each child was given 10 pieces of magnetic lego. They worked together to create a structure of 100 pieces.
There's snow in Year 1!
Year 1 have been having great fun learning about our topic winter weather.
The children were very excited to see the snow on Friday morning!
We have been drawing lots of pictures and learning about ice melting and water freezing.
Counting to 6 in Year 1
Year 1 have been having great fun learning all about the number 6.
In Year 1 we have been getting really excited about Christmas and Supper with Santa. We have been busy making all our lovely Christmas decorations for our walls and our Christmas trees.
Trip to Drum Manor and Killymoon castle.
In October the Year 1’s visited Killymoon Castle and Drum Manor. We had been learning about castles in school and the children loved seeing a real castle!
Stay and Play
Year 1 really enjoyed having their parents and grandparents come to play in the afternoon. The children had great fun showing their parents what they get up to at play time and the parents had the opportunity to see how their children learn through play based activities.
In Year 1 we always encourage the children to eat healthy. The children enjoyed being blindfolded and trying to guess which fruit was in front of them using their senses of smell, touch and taste. Everyone enjoyed sampling all the fruit after as well.
