Year 5 had great fun this week exploring 3D shape nets using magnetic tiles and Clixi pieces. Working in pairs, the children were challenged to create a variety of nets and test whether each one could successfully fold into a 3D cube.
Using the magnetic tiles helped pupils visualise how flat shapes transform into solid structures, while the Challenge Worksheet encouraged them to think carefully, problem‑solve, and check their predictions.
There was a wonderful buzz of teamwork in the classroom as pairs experimented with different combinations, discussed their ideas, and made adjustments to see what would work.
