Year 3 Learn About Road Safety Around Our School

9th Feb 2026

Year 3 enjoyed an informative walk around the school grounds as part of their road safety learning. During their walk, the children spotted important safety features, including zebra crossings, and discussed how to use them properly to cross the road safely.

The pupils practised standing safely near the kerb—close enough to observe traffic but not so close that they might lose their balance. They also had the chance to feel the tactile paving beneath their feet, learning how it helps people know when they are nearing a crossing.

As they continued their walk, the children noticed speed bumps and talked about how these help to slow vehicles down, making the area safer for pedestrians. They finished by walking to the pedestrian gate, reminding themselves that this is the safest way to enter and leave the school grounds.

Well done, Year 3, for being such sensible and safety‑smart walkers!
