Year 1 Explore Their Chilly Topic: “Brrrr… It’s Freezing!”
Year 1 have been having a wonderful time learning through their winter‑themed topic, “Brrrr… it’s freezing!” The children have been busy exploring, creating and discovering in lots of exciting ways.
They started with a word hunt, searching around the classroom and outdoor areas to find winter‑themed words. Everyone worked brilliantly together and had great fun spotting and reading the words they found.
During our shape hunt, the boys and girls discovered so many different shapes hidden all around our school environment. They were fantastic shape detectives!
In play, the children loved designing patterns on hats and mittens, using colours and shapes to create their own cosy winter designs.
We finished the week with a gallery session, where the pupils admired all the beautiful polar bear chalk drawings they had created. The artwork looked amazing, and the children were very proud of their efforts.
Well done, Year 1 — what a busy and creative week!
