Wee Critters visit SPL2 and SPSC3
This term, SPL2 and SPSC3 are learning about The Rainforest. Today they met some of the animals when Allan came to visit. They learnt lots of information about each animal and were able to answer some of Allan’s questions. They met Craig 214 the cockroach, Curly Sue the tarantula, Trevor the giant toad, Philip the tree frog and Salazar the snake. Did you know the reason snakes stick their tongues in and out is because they smell with their tongues? After that, Allan showed us the snakeskin of a Boa Constrictor. Their skin colour helps them to stay camouflaged from their predators and prey. Everyone’s favourite was Iggle the tenrec. He looked just like a mini hedgehog, but he is actually related to the elephant family! Allan also brought an Anaconda – don’t worry – it was just a stuffed toy. We passed it along to see the length of it. It was really long – it took everyone in our two classes to hold it! The last animal we saw was Scout the skunk – thankfully it didn’t spray us. We were able to pet him, but we covered our noses just in case he was a little bit smelly! Everyone enjoyed learning about the animals. Thankyou Allan for bringing these special animals in and for teaching us lots of fun facts.
