Primary 4 Celebrate Numbers Day with Outdoor Learning

26th Mar 2026

Primary 4 embraced Numbers Day in style, arriving in a wonderful array of number-inspired outfits. A huge thank you to our pupils and their families for the creativity and effort shown. Your support helped raise funds for our school’s Numeracy resources and the South Derry Down Syndrome Association.

During the day, Year 4 focused on developing their understanding of pictograms, particularly how to interpret keys representing groups of 2, 5 or 10. Pupils collected data on class preferences and created pictograms using natural materials—specifically leaves gathered from the local area.

Back in the classroom, the children discussed the information they had represented, answered questions based on their data, and reflected on their learning. Their excellent understanding earned many of them a green light on their AFL traffic light evaluations.

Primary 4 had a fantastic day of meaningful, practical maths learning. Well done, everyone!
