Outdoor Numeracy in Year 4
16th Feb 2026
Year 4 took their numeracy learning outdoors this week as they searched for lines of symmetry and then right angles around the playground. Armed with clipboards and curious minds, the children explored benches, markings, plants, equipment, and everyday objects to see which shapes could be split into matching halves and which had right angles. Taking maths outside helped the class see symmetry and angles in the world around them, making the lesson active, engaging, and full of discovery.
