January ABL Highlights – Year 4

23rd Jan 2026

Primary 4 thoroughly enjoyed exploring a range of creative and hands-on activities during January ABL. Pupils designed marshmallow snowflakes as part of a STEM challenge, built symmetrical models using Lego, created paper snowflakes, produced snowflake oil pastel artwork and painted beautiful symmetrical butterflies.

Through these activities, pupils learned:

  • to recognise and create symmetry in both art and construction
  • how patterns and shapes can be repeated and reflected
  • to develop problem‑solving and design skills by planning and adapting their ideas
  • to work collaboratively, sharing resources and ideas
  • to experiment with different materials and techniques to achieve a desired outcome

The activities encouraged creativity, teamwork and a deeper understanding of symmetry across both art and STEM learning.
