January ABL Highlights – Year 4

Primary 4 thoroughly enjoyed exploring a range of creative and hands-on activities during January ABL. Pupils designed marshmallow snowflakes as part of a STEM challenge, built symmetrical models using Lego, created paper snowflakes, produced snowflake oil pastel artwork and painted beautiful symmetrical butterflies.

Through these activities, pupils learned:

to recognise and create symmetry in both art and construction
how patterns and shapes can be repeated and reflected
to develop problem‑solving and design skills by planning and adapting their ideas
to work collaboratively, sharing resources and ideas
to experiment with different materials and techniques to achieve a desired outcome

The activities encouraged creativity, teamwork and a deeper understanding of symmetry across both art and STEM learning.
