Year 4 celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday by exploring the outdoors! We became naturalist problem solvers, exploring the outdoor world and using nature to create our own cars and a special 100th birthday picture using natural materials.
We worked in teams to discuss and decide on the best materials to use for building our cars and designing our pictures. We shared ideas, solved problems together, and adapted our designs when things didn’t go to plan.
We learned how to work collaboratively, use our maths skills to count and select materials, and think creatively about how to use the natural environment in a respectful way. We also developed our problem-solving skills by testing and improving our creations, just like real explorers and scientists.
