Cookstown Primary has a strong footballing tradition, with boys’ and girls’ teams representing the town in both local and national competitions. Many past pupils have gone on to play for local clubs as well as in the Irish League and English Premiership. Several past pupils (both boys and girls!) have gone on to play for their National Teams. The school does not just cater for children who are gifted and talented in this area, but tries to encourage mass participation by giving every child the opportunity to participate.

This has been a really competitive league but the boys played some fabulous football, especially against a very competitive Howard Primary School team.

Consequently, the A team ended up as runners up in the league, winning six, drawing one and losing only once – an excellent record. Congratulations and really well done to everyone who took part during both sessions.

Opening of Santander

To mark the opening, and to show the Santander's commitment to the local commnity, the team was presented with a new kit, which they are looking forward to wearing in the Tri-County Mini-Soccer Fun Days later in the new year.
