Parents and Friends

Parents and Friends of Cookstown Primary School’ is made up of parents, staff, retired staff, friends and local business people who come together to organise a wide variety of events which raise invaluable sums of money for the benefit of our school and its pupils.

Through its activities, the group aims to :

develop more extended relationships between the staff, parents  and others associated with the school;
engage in activities which support the school and benefit the education of the pupils attending it;
 provide, and assist in, the provision of facilities for the school and
 encourage parents and friends to support the school, and school activities, as well as cultural, social and recreational activities among pupils, parents and teachers.
A committee, which administers the affairs of the association, is elected at the group’s Annual General Meeting, but the association is much more than just a committee.  If you are a new parent or teacher you will get a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction out of either supporting the events that we are organising or by helping to organise and run them.

Why not come along and join in the fun ?

We are always looking for fresh blood and new ideas!

News from the Parents and Friends

Due to the outstanding success of the recent events organised by the Parents and Friends of Cookstown Primary School, the association now has sufficient funds to purchase an additional three Interactive Whiteboards. However, as only four mainstream classes are still without these amazing pieces of equipment the group has decided to order four in the hope that they will be able to raise the outstanding amount by the end of the year. It is hoped that the new boards will be installed in the P5(Miss Purdy/Miss McDowell), P3 (Mrs McComb), P2 (Mrs Brown) and Mrs Cuddy’s LSC Class within the next few weeks. However, the pupils in these classes can’t wait to start experimenting with the new equipment and already practicing on other boards around the school.

Autumn Disco

The Parents and Friends organised an Autumn disco. It was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all the children. Some of the costumes were wonderful. You can see for yourself!!

Soft Play Area

The Parents and Friends of CPS would like to thank everyone who has helped them to raise £10,000 towards the new Soft Play Area. The pupils are really looking forward to being able to play in the new area and can’t wait until the builders come on site. The school is now in the process of trying to secure the final element of funding necessary and it is hoped that work will begin prior to Easter 2012.

New Interactive Whiteboard

Mrs Miller and her class were delighted to take delivery of a new Interactive Whiteboard which was purchased with funds donated by the Parents and Friends.
