Cookstown Primary School orchestra is comprised of children selected from Years 4-7 who are taking music lessons either in or out of school. Currently the orchestra boasts around fifteen musicians, including upper & lower strings and woodwind. Children performing in the orchestra generally take music lessons with peripatetic tutors for about a year to develop enough proficiency in their instrument to allow them to play in the orchestra. They perform at all in-school functions and rehearse on Wednesday morning from 9.10am- 9.35am.
